Why this matters
Teaching is one of the most sacred responsibilities of the Church. Thankfully, it can also be one of the most fun.
The Disciple Teacher is Raising Biblical Teachers and it was formed from the idea that teachers should know how to teach.
After several decades of working alongside some of the most amazing volunteers, I recognized that the average church volunteer has little to no training in teaching and it was impacting the way the Gospel was communicated. It’s time the Church partnered Holy Spirit wisdom with teachers’ practical knowledge to help our Biblical teachers get an upgrade.
Pulling from practical teacher-know-how, a Biblical teacher can upgrade the teaching experience. Teaching is not just about sharing information but rather an opportunity to build a learner. Teaching raises the Joshuas, Elishas, Ruths, and Timothys sitting in church buildings and elevates them to disciples.
Biblical Teaching is a sacred responsibility that cannot be tossed out hoping that something sticks. It’s time to partner excellent teaching practices with Holy Spirit power so teachers can walk with greater confidence on the Day of Judgement.
Teaching is a weighty responsibility to carry but it’s also amazingly fun. Whether it’s children’s laughter during craft time or adults’ actively participating in the lesson, the rewards are tremendous. Perhaps the most outstanding reward is knowing that eternity was impacted because we didn’t just present information but we built learners.
Behind the words
The Disciple Teacher’s passion of Raising Biblical Teachers was born in Stephanie Worth. Stephanie considers teaching to be one of the highest callings and has spent more than 25 years teaching. Her teaching experience ranges from at-risk students in cinder-block classrooms, preschoolers in the rainbow-themed Sunday school room, to the maturing believers in the main sanctuary.
Stephanie is passionate about the Church growing deeper and developing disciples who make disciples who make disciples. She believes that Teachers are a vital part of the five-fold ministry.
Stephanie’s husband, Jay, is also a licensed minister who often contributes to Raising Biblical Teachers. Stephanie and Jay are currently serving as missionaries in Europe with their daughter Viola.
