Have you ever asked yourself: how did I actually end up here?
For some, it was a need someone else pointed out — a class without a teacher, and a willingness to step in. For others, it was the surprising discovery that they're actually good at this. And for a smaller group, it was something more settled: an unshakable sense that teaching is simply part of who God made them to be.
This session names three teacher types — Volunteer, Gifted, and Called — and helps you honestly identify which one describes you right now. Not so you can rank yourself against other teachers, but so you can understand your own specific strengths, your specific blind spots, and what you actually need in order to keep serving well.
If you're a Volunteer Teacher, you'll look at what it takes to serve joyfully in that role, even if teaching never becomes your greatest passion and you'll watch for signs that you might be more gifted than you've given yourself credit for. If you're a Gifted Teacher, you'll consider what it looks like to fully use that gift, and whether it might be pointing toward something more. If you're a Called Teacher, you'll be challenged to fan that calling into flame rather than let it quietly dim under the weight of everything else you're carrying.
Regardless of your type, this session ends with something every teacher needs and few ever pause to build: a plan for sustainability. Because faithful teaching that burns you out in two years serves no one — not you, not your students, and not the students who would have been in your class five years from now.
You've spent Sessions 1 and 2 leveling up your teaching and embracing your role as a disciple-maker. This final session makes sure you can keep doing both for the long haul.
Your workbook includes a reflection worksheet built around your specific teacher type, and an application worksheet with action steps ranging from a quick sustainability check to a full conversation designed to help you discover feedback and calling you might not see in yourself.
You are not just a teacher. You're exactly the kind of teacher God equipped you to be — and now you know how to steward it well.
Helpful to know: If you're a church leader using this workshop to train a teaching team, the Session 3 Application Worksheet includes a Quarterly Type Review your teachers can revisit together, so this doesn't stay a one-time realization but becomes an ongoing conversation about calling and sustainability.
Do I even need to tell you what this is anymore?
